School management software

School management software in Nigeria, built around how your school runs

Musskart Lab builds school management systems for Nigerian schools: admissions, results, fees and a parent portal, designed for phones as well as the school office. Custom business software starts from ₦4M, and a lean first version from ₦2.5M, with a written quote in Naira before you pay.

What we build

One system for the office, the teachers and the parents

A school runs on records that many people touch: the admissions desk, class teachers, the bursar, the head and parents. The software has to give each of them the right view and keep every figure in one place.

  • Admissions: applications, entrance records and a clean student register
  • Results: scores entered by teachers, calculated by your own grading rules and printed as report cards
  • Fees: what each student owes, what has been paid and receipts for every payment
  • A parent portal for results, fees and notices, on a phone
  • Separate access for the proprietor, administrators, the bursar, teachers and parents
  • Reports for management, from fee collection to results by class

What a good one must get right

Seven things that decide whether a school system works

Most school software problems come from a system that does not match how the school really works. These are the places to look.

Your grading rules

Schools differ: continuous assessment and exam weights, grade scales, positions, teacher and head-teacher remarks, and cumulative results across terms. The system should follow your rules, not force a standard one.

Fees as they really are

Fees by term and class, part payments, sibling discounts, scholarships, arrears carried forward and receipts. Online payment through Paystack or Flutterwave helps, but payments made by bank transfer must be matched too.

The right access for each person

A teacher should see only their own classes, a parent only their own children, and only the right staff the money. Decide these rules before the build, not after.

Phones and weak data

Most parents will open it on a phone, often on a slow connection. Pages must be light, and the result and fee screens must work without fuss.

Children’s data

You hold names, results and family details for children. Data protection rules apply to that data, and access, backups and who may export it all need thought. See the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. This is general information, not legal advice.

Moving what you already have

Most schools already keep students, results and fees in files or spreadsheets. A good project plans how to bring that history in and who checks it.

Training and handover

A system only helps if staff use it. Plan training for the office and teachers, and make sure you receive the code, the accounts and the documentation.

Decide before you build

Questions to settle with your head and bursar

How many schools or campuses? One school is simpler than several branches that share one proprietor but keep separate records.

Which levels? Nursery, primary and secondary use different report cards and grading, so list every level and its report card.

What else do you need? Attendance, timetables, a library, school bus routes or staff payroll can all be added, but each adds to the price, so choose the first version around the pains you feel most: usually results and fees.

Who pays and when? Decide whether results are shown to every parent or only once fees are settled. That is a policy decision for the school, and the software can follow whichever you choose.

If the school is small and a ready-made product already fits, use it. A custom system pays off when your rules are particular, you run several branches, or you want it to grow with you. We will tell you plainly which case you are in.

How a project runs

From a visit to a working system

You see the screens before any code is written, and working software before you pay for each milestone.

  1. Scope and quote

We learn how your school works, then send a written scope, a timeline and a price in Naira. Nothing starts until you agree to it.

  2. Design the screens

Every screen, from the result sheet to the fee statement, is designed and agreed before production code is written.

  3. Build and test

We build in milestones and you pay after seeing working software. We test on real phones.

  4. Launch and hand over

We bring in your existing records, train your staff and hand over the code and every account in your name after final payment.

Questions

School software questions

Describe your school and we’ll tell you plainly what it needs.

Ask on WhatsApp
Can you build a school management system?

Yes. We build custom business software around how an organisation works, and a school system is one of the things we offer. We show you the designed screens and a working first version before you commit to the whole build.

How much does a school management system cost in Nigeria?

Our custom business software starts from ₦4M, and a lean first version from ₦2.5M. The number of modules, user roles and reports decides where a project lands, and your written quote gives the exact figure. See all our prices in Naira.

Can parents pay fees online?

Yes, we connect Paystack or Flutterwave so a parent can pay from a phone, and the payment is recorded against the student. Payments by bank transfer can be recorded by the bursar so every fee statement stays correct.

Can we start with results and fees only?

Yes, and we recommend it. Results and fees are where most schools feel the pain. Admissions, attendance and other modules can follow once the first version is in daily use.

Will it work on a phone?

Yes. We design for phones first, because that is how most parents will use it, and we test on real devices. We can also build a mobile app if you want one.

Who owns the system and the data?

You do. Once the final payment is made we hand over the source code, the design files and every account in your name. The school stays responsible for its students’ data, and we explain what that means for you.
